Paintings for new restaurant

The Tortoise Club restaurant has officially opened to the public this week. I am very happy that the opportunity was given to me to complete a total of ten paintings featuring oil caricatures of enigmatic Chicagoans from the early 20th century era.

Each measuring 24X36 inches, the subjects include "Big Bill" Thompson, Cap Streeter, Sally Rand, Arnold Rothstein, Albert Lasker,  "Diamond Jim" Colosimo, John "Bet a Million" Gates, Roger Plant, Charles Yerkes and Finley Peter Dunne.

The restaurant has a beautiful vintage style that resonates with the era represented in the paintings.

The restaurant is located at 350 N State Street in the lower level of the Sax Hotel, next door to the Marina City Towers.

Included is the caricature of FP Dunne, a humorist, journalist and newspaper editor.
